FDA and Novo Nordisk Warn of Counterfeit Ozempic in U.S. Supply Chain
United States: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Novo Nordisk advise people to monitor for fake Ozempic (semaglutide) and never utilize these imitation medications, as reported by HealthDay.
Counterfeit Ozempic Identified
The drug supply chain of the United States has received several hundred units of Ozempic injection 1 mg. Seized counterfeit products contain authentic lot number PAR0362 with eight-digit serial numbers beginning with 51746517, which have been proven to be invalid. Counterfeit products must contain Lot Number PAR0362 together with incorrect Serial Number 51746517 to qualify as counterfeit products.
The FDA and Novo Nordisk test seized products while they gather no data about counterfeit drug properties, including identity, safety, or quality. The FDA investigation is ongoing.

Ongoing Investigation and Safety Concerns
The FDA received six reports of adverse events concerning the Ozempic drug product within this specific lot. All of these reports submitted by Novo Nordisk fail to show any connection to the counterfeit product.
Patients and pharmacies must examine their Ozempic box, which displays both the lot number and erroneous serial number because this indicates counterfeit drug items. Products bearing both authentic lot and paper serial numbers fall under the category of counterfeits and must be discarded, as reported by HealthDay.
What to Do if You Suspect Counterfeit Ozempic
Any suspicious products of Ozempic should be notified to Novo Nordisk as well as directly to the FDA for investigation. Report all unfavorable Ozempic side effects through the FDA MedWatch Safety Information and Adverse Event Reporting Program and Novo Nordisk (1-800-727-6500).
