United States: More than 100 people have gotten sick from eating Diamond Shruumz edibles, and these possibly dangerous products might still be in stores, according to federal safety officials.
As covered by CBS news, so far, 113 people in 28 states have been affected, with 42 of them needing to go to the hospital, and there may be two deaths linked to these products. The recalled edibles were sold online and across all 50 states, including Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.
Recalled Products and Ongoing Risks
The Food and Drug Administration and health authorities has already updated its list of around 2,000 stores and places where these products were sold.
The agency has also cautioned that this list may lengthen and that possibly toxic products may still be sale at the additional outlets.
Those two hospitalizations include at least two kids in Arizona and one of the deaths are being investigated involves an adult in the North Dakota and who wasn’t hospitalized before dying said the state officials.
Health Concerns and Investigations
Santa Ana, California-based Prophet Premium Blends in late June recalled all of its Diamond Shruumz brand infused cones, chocolate bars and gummies due to toxic levels of muscimol from Amanita mushrooms.
Testing of Diamond Shruumz brand chocolate bars by the FDA detected other undeclared substances like psilocin, sometimes nicknamed “synthetic shrooms.”
The company’s recall cam three weeks after the federal and the state officials said that they were typically investigating a series of illnesses which are related to eating Diamond Shruumz Microdosing Chocolate Bars.
Those who actually become ill and reported the severe symptoms including confusion and the seizures and loss of consciousness and abnormal heart rates as well.
FDA’s Advice
What the FDA is specifically advising Do not buy or eat any of the flavour of Diamond Shruumz brand chocolates and bars cones or gummies also check homes for and throw away or return any recalled products may appeal to children and the teens and those who really got sickened after eating the products should call their doctor or the poison.
